The FDA has announced approval of a third (booster) dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine for patients who are moderately to severely immunocompromised. Following Maine CDC guidelines, you qualify for the Moderna vaccine if you have:

      • Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood
      • Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
      • Received CAR-T-cell or stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
      • Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
      • Advanced or untreated HIV infection
      • Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress your immune response

You will be required to sign a consent form, verifying that you have a moderate to severe immune compromised condition. At least 28 days must have passed between your second shot and your third (booster) dose.  If you are unsure as to whether you qualify, please reach out to your health care provider to discuss your medical condition, and whether a third dose is appropriate for you at this time.

If you currently meet the requirements listed above, please contact our 冰球突破 Vaccine 护理访问 Team at  to make an appointment. We are only scheduling appointments for individuals with a moderate to severe immune compromised condition. A provider’s order is not required and we do not have a wait list.

请注意, the CDC recommends you continue to receive the same vaccine that you have been given for your two previous doses (i.e., Moderna or Pfizer). If this is not possible, you may receive the other (纽约医院 offers only the Moderna vaccine).

Following the August 18 CDC announcement regarding the availability of booster doses for 所有 adults later this f所有, 纽约医院 continues to monitor the CDC recommendations and guidelines, and will update our policy as plans evolve. 在这个时候, additional doses or booster shots are not being offered to anybody who is not immunocompromised – this includes older adults and/or health care workers – and we do not have a waiting list. More information about booster doses for 所有 vaccinated people will be available in coming weeks. You can read the August 18 CDC announcement by visiting:  http://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/s0818-covid-19-booster-shots.html.
